I Tested the Top Lego Dimensions on Switch and Here’s What I Found

This retro set earned its high ranking through sheer nostalgic charm and an impressively intricate mechanical design. Built for older fans, it features a working lever and joystick that actually circulate twenty-one barrels in a continuous loop.

I think the mechanical action makes this a fantastic display piece for any office or game room. You get one thousand three hundred sixty-seven pieces to assemble, which provides a satisfying challenge for experienced builders.

On the downside, it is purely a static display model with manual play features rather than an active video game system. Buyers should remember that this is a building project for adults rather than an interactive electronic console.

This nostalgic sci-fi set is best for adult movie lovers who appreciate classic cinema memorabilia and relaxing build sessions. It captures the charm of the famous alien with a posable figure and a built-in light brick that makes his heart glow.

I find the attention to detail charming, especially the ability to pose his fingers and head in classic movie stances. You also get twelve hundred twenty-six pieces to keep your hands busy during a quiet weekend afternoon.

The main limitation is that it sits strictly in the display category rather than offering active gameplay. Some buyers might wish for a more complex mechanical function beyond the basic light brick.

An unusual mechanical shell-walker with a functioning shield and energy pod immediately catches the eye in this exciting video game adaptation. It translates the digital world of console gaming directly into physical bricks for younger fans.

This is my absolute top overall pick because it bridges digital adventures and hands-on construction so well. You get two detailed minifigures along with weapons that feature interchangeable fire, shock, or chill accessories.

My only reservation is that the digital video game itself is sold separately, which might confuse parents expecting a bundled cartridge. Still, the action-packed play value here easily justifies the ranking.

The most common complaint from buyers involves missing the exclusive digital skin code, but the physical set itself delivers plenty of charm. It brings the popular battle royale aesthetic to life with a campfire, a workbench, and transformable ruins.

I appreciate how the exclusive QR code adds genuine digital value for dedicated players of the virtual game. The set includes iconic characters like Peely along with a poseable wolf figure for creative pretend play.

The build is relatively simple, meaning older fans might breeze through the construction in under an hour. Younger builders will find the camp playset much more engaging than advanced collectors will.

Comparing this starfighter to the Horizon set above reveals a much more traditional starship build focused on galactic space battles. It steps away from open-world exploration and dives straight into Republic defense missions with three dedicated minifigures.

I like the inclusion of a central wing handle underneath the ship, which makes swooping around the room very easy. The wing transformation feature lets kids switch smoothly between flight and landing modes during playtime.

The main drawback is that it remains a specialized vehicle rather than a complete playset with terrain or buildings. Buyers looking for an immersive environment rather than a single starship model might want to look elsewhere.

This jungle house gained its strong reputation from the explosive trap feature that lets players recreate classic in-game destruction. That destructive gimmick holds up remarkably well, offering an interactive play loop that kids love to repeat.

I think the collapsing walls mechanism adds a fun element of surprise to an otherwise standard building toy. You also get classic characters like Steve and a Creeper to populate the destructible jungle house.

The structure is relatively fragile by design to accommodate the explosion function, which can frustrate younger builders during reconstruction. Parents should expect to help rebuild the brick-built explosions frequently.

This action-heavy set earns its ranking through the sheer intensity of the buildable ravager and the three-story watchtower. It puts players right in the middle of a raid with a snapping jaw mechanism operated by a simple lever.

I find the inclusion of four distinct minifigures, including a Raid Captain and a Space Sentinel, offers great variety for battle scenarios. The mason villager house adds a nice focal point for defending the village against mob attacks.

The price point sits higher than smaller Minecraft kits, which might make budget-conscious buyers pause. However, the epic building action provides enough substance to justify the investment for dedicated fans.
