Most golfers assume they need a high-tech app to track their game, but the humble bead counter remains the most reliable, battery-free way to keep score. After analyzing buyer feedback and feature sets across seven popular models, I have determined which units offer the best value for your bag. My research suggests that simplicity often beats digital complexity on the course. Here is my honest, ranked comparison of these classic scoring tools.
1. MUXSAM 1 Piece Golf Beads Score Counter with Clip (Blue) | Golf Stroke Score Count Keeper Putting Score Counter for Referee Caddy Golfer
This unit earns its ranking because it is the best single unit for golfers who want a standalone, no-fuss accessory. The nylon rope construction is surprisingly sturdy, and the classic blue color makes it easy to spot in a cluttered golf bag.
I appreciate how straightforward this design is, as it removes any chance of electronic failure during a round. It is a solid, reliable tool for those who prefer manual tracking.
Buyers appreciate the simple, durable construction of this specific model.
The clip allows for quick attachment to almost any bag style.
It is frequently noted as a perfect gift for caddies or casual golfers.

2. Golf Stroke Counter, 4 Pack Golf Beads Score Counter with Clip for Referee Caddy Golfer
This multi-pack is designed for the budget-conscious golfer or the player who frequently loses gear and needs a stash of backups. It offers the best bulk value in the group, providing four individual counters for a single purchase.
In my view, having a spare in your locker is a smart move. You never know when a clip might snap or a friend might realize they forgot their own counter.

3. MUXSAM 1 Piece Golf Beads Score Counter with Clip (Purple) | Golf Stroke Score Count Keeper Putting Score Counter for Referee Caddy Golfer
The unexpected feature here is the vibrant purple hue, which serves as a unique style statement compared to the standard black or white options. It functions exactly like the rest of the MUXSAM line, but it stands out for its visual appeal.
I think this is a fun way to personalize your kit without sacrificing any practical functionality. It is the same reliable length and build as the blue version.
The purple color remains popular for its visibility against neutral-toned golf bags.
It maintains the standard 13.38-inch length that most golfers find comfortable.
Feedback suggests the plastic beads are light enough not to swing wildly during play.

4. Zelerdo 3 Pack Golf Beads Count Stroke Score Counter (3 Colors)
The most common buyer complaint for these is that the clips can occasionally be stiff, but this is a minor tradeoff for the consistent quality of the beads themselves. Once you get used to the tension, they work perfectly every time.
This is my number one pick because the three-pack strikes the ideal balance between quantity and portability. You get enough to share or store, and the construction is simply more refined than the cheaper bulk alternatives.
The 11.8-inch length is often cited as the perfect size to avoid tangling.
Owners highlight the color-coded beads as a helpful way to track strokes.
The overall build quality is consistently praised as superior to other plastic options.

5. DEIHAALEN Golf Stroke Counter, 4 Pack Golf Beads Score Counter with Clip for Referee Caddy Golfer
When you compare this to the Zelerdo set, you will notice these are slightly longer at 12.5 inches, making them a reliable backup for those who prefer a bit more length on their gear. They perform the same core job but offer a slightly different physical footprint.
I find these to be a great secondary choice if you are stocking a golf tournament or need to equip multiple bags at once. They are sturdy enough to withstand rough handling.
Customers value the four-pack for the cost savings it provides.
The clip mechanism is widely reported as being compatible with most belt loops.
Users mention that the beads are sized well for easy movement with gloved hands.

This model became popular because of its high-visibility red color, which makes it easy to find at the bottom of a dark bag. Does it live up to the hype? Yes, it is a highly practical choice for those who lose their gear easily.
I am a fan of any tool that saves me time during a round, and this bright color is a genuine functional benefit. It performs as well as the other MUXSAM units.
The red beads are easy to count even in low-light conditions on the course.
Many golfers choose this version specifically because it stands out from standard equipment.

It shares the same solid, long-lasting construction as the rest of the MUXSAM series.

Choosing Between Them
My top recommendation is the Zelerdo 3-Pack, as it offers the most versatile quantity for your gear without compromising on build quality. If you are a casual player, the MUXSAM single units are excellent for personal use, while the 4-pack options from DEIHAALEN are ideal for the golfer who likes to be prepared with extras for their friends.
Keep in mind that while these plastic bead counters are incredibly durable and simple to use, they do not offer the digital precision or automatic data tracking found in modern mobile apps or laser-based scorekeepers. You are choosing a manual, meditative way to track your progress, which is often exactly what a golfer needs to stay focused on their game.
