Most people assume letterbox numbers require industrial spray paint, but many homeowners successfully use acrylic paint kits to achieve a custom look. After analyzing various options and buyer sentiment, I have put together this guide to help you find the right match for your mailbox. I find that personalization and durability are the two biggest factors to consider. Let's look at the ranked comparison below to find your winner.
1. Number Artist Paint by Numbers Kit – Umbrella Park, with Frame | 16x20in Canvas With Frame Included, Ready To Hang, Painting For Adults, Beginner-Friendly, 24 Acrylic Colors, 6 Brushes
This kit earns its ranking due to the sheer size and volume of materials provided. It is perfect for those who want to create a statement piece rather than a small label.
I particularly enjoy the inclusion of extra paint pots, which ensures you won't run out mid-project. However, keep in mind that a 16×20 inch canvas is quite large for a standard letterbox, so you might need to trim the fabric to fit your specific surface.
Buyers appreciate the inclusion of 24 distinct acrylic colors.
The large canvas size is frequently noted as a major benefit for display art.
Some users mention the need to purchase additional outdoor-grade sealer for weather protection.

2. Mowana Paint by Numbers Kit for Adults – Hydrangeas Adult Paint by Numbers for Beginners on Canvas with Frame and Easel, Easy Acrylic Oil Painting by Number Kits 8×12 inch
This kit is best suited for beginners or apartment dwellers who need a compact project that won't overwhelm a small entryway space. It provides a quick, satisfying creative outlet.
I appreciate that the set includes a wooden easel, which makes it a very thoughtful gift for someone short on supplies. The limitation here is the design itself, as it is strictly floral and does not offer the alphanumeric stencils needed for traditional address numbering.
The small 8×12 inch footprint is ideal for tight spaces.
Many users value the complete, ready-to-paint setup including the easel.
Feedback suggests the design is better suited for wall decor than exterior signage.

3. Texture of Dreams Personalized Paint by Numbers Kit for Adults, Acrylic Painting Oil Painting on Framed & Stretched Canvas, Customized DIY Paint by Numbers Set Painting for Beginners (12" x 16")
The most surprising feature of this kit is its ability to turn your personal photos or text into a numbered painting. This makes it a fantastic tool for creating unique, custom signs for your home.
I believe this is the most versatile option for anyone looking to paint their specific house number. Since it arrives as a stretched and framed canvas, it is ready for immediate display once you finish the painting process.
The ability to customize the design is the standout feature for most buyers.
Customers consistently mention the convenience of the pre-stretched frame.
The fast shipping times are frequently highlighted as a benefit.

4. 4 Pack Paint by Numbers Kits for Adults with Frame 8×8 Inch | Landscape Paint by Number for Beginners Kids, Moon Mountain Lake Easy DIY Acrylic Oil Painting by Numbers on Canvas
A common complaint regarding these kits is that the small 8×8 inch size can make the intricate details difficult for some to navigate. Despite this, they remain a popular choice for those who enjoy variety.
I think the 4-pack format is a clever way to practice different styles without committing to a single massive project. You get a lot of creative value in one box, though the small scale means it is less effective for bold, readable house numbers.
Buyers like the variety of receiving four distinct scenes in one purchase.
The small size is often cited as a limitation for those with limited dexterity.
Many users enjoy the screen-free relaxation these kits provide.

5. CraftBliss Black Lab Paint by Numbers Kits for Adults Beginner 12 x 16 Inch
Compared to the 4-pack of mini landscapes, this kit offers a more focused experience on a single, detailed image. It is clearly designed for those who want a specific, high-quality pet portrait.
I find the theme quite charming for dog lovers and pet owners. The primary limitation is that it does not offer any room for text or numbers, so you would need to use this as an aesthetic accessory near your letterbox rather than as the address label itself.
The clear, pre-printed canvas is praised for its ease of use.
Dog owners frequently mention the emotional appeal of the design.
Some users note that the frame-less nature requires a separate purchase if you want to mount it securely.

6. 4 Pack Paint by Numbers Kit for Kids with Frame – Wooden Easel 8×8 inch | Outer Space Paint by Numbers for Kids Ages 4 8 12, Easy Astronaut Acrylic Oil Painting Kits for Home Wall Decoration
This set became popular largely due to its child-friendly focus and the inclusion of a sturdy wooden easel. My assessment is that it succeeds as an introductory art tool, though it is not intended for professional-grade signage.
I appreciate the safety-conscious design, including the high-definition canvas that helps protect a child's eyes during long painting sessions. Parents should be aware that the space-themed patterns are quite specific, so they will not function as traditional letterbox numbers.
The inclusion of a reusable wooden easel is highly regarded by parents.
Buyers note the clear markings make it easy for younger artists to follow along.
The 8×8 inch size is generally considered perfect for a child's workspace.

Choosing Between Them
My top pick is the Texture of Dreams Personalized Kit because it provides the customization required to create specific letterbox numbers that actually look like a professional sign. It is the best choice for a buyer who wants a bespoke outcome rather than a generic landscape or portrait.
Please note that these kits are intended for indoor or sheltered display and are not formulated to withstand heavy rain or direct sun exposure for years. If you plan to mount your finished piece on an exterior mailbox, I strongly recommend applying a durable, clear acrylic sealant to protect your hard work from the elements.
